Technical design, fabrication, and installation of Bharti Kher’s artwork ‘Target Queen’ on the exterior of the Hayward Gallery. The building is protected so the installation system of welded 100SHS steel was designed to make use of the building’s features and clamp itself between the roof’s parapet and lower balcony.
Lightweight circular aluminium frames were welded to support the vinyl artwork, applied to dibond cladding – and discreetly bolted into the steel structure.

Installing ‘Target Queen’ had several challenges, mainly the height of 20m plus but also the staggered levels of the Southbank’s site and limited pavement access of Belvedere Road, with no use of HIABs or Cranes allowed. We worked in multiple teams situated across the building’s different levels.
