Pae White, Paddington Station

Somethinging, 2023

Technical design, fabrication, and installation of an intricate folded aluminium sculpture designed by the artist Pae White to mimic dragonfly wings. Each piece was lasercut, and hand bent in the White Wall studio. The artwork comprises over one thousand different folded parts and eight thousand rivets The conglomerate sections were were primed and painted the artist’s colour patterns in one of our two spraybooths. The artwork is suspended using a complex engineered system fabricated in accordance to Price & Myers’ structural engineering and a Macalloy strain system. The artwork was installed over the course of a week and is the Escalator Permanent Public Art Commission at Paddington Square, London.
