United Visual Artists (UVA), Paddington Central
Message from an Unseen World
Production design, fabrication and installation of a 22m long memorial at Paddington Central Station to the crypanalyst Alan Turing, who resided in the area. The installation consists of a durable, tactile surface to allow for exact calibration with an LED array. The programme selects random phrases and words from a poem commissioned about Alan Turing, written by the poet Nick Drake. The fabrication included complex metal CNC work and engraving and an inventive black anodizing process.
The work was delivered in component sections in a heavily congested commuter route under CDM protocol.
